This website will allow you to use written instructions, or instructional videos, which will instruct you on how to measure your own refractive error, by using an I phone.
When making your actual readings, always use the T thermometers on the actual word document; so that the lines will appear in perfect focus, and exactly calibrated when viewed on your I-phone.
You can use the link tab at the bottom of page 1 (Written directions and instructional videos:) on either your computer or your I-phone to download the word document directly onto your I-phone. It is best to use this web site on your home computer or laptop when processing your measurements into your final glasses Rx.
After, completing your readings, and eventually, your final answer sheet; you will be instructed on how to email yourself your updated written glasses RX. This information can be used to help your eye care provider, obtain a best corrected visual acuity from you. This also helps your doctor when treating your eyes for other medical conditions, like diabetes, or when updating your glasses prescription for you. This is a free service.
If you need a signed glasses Rx, to obtain on-line glasses; or want us to translate your initial measurements into a final glasses prescription for you; you can forward your updated glasses Rx to us by email (jcacjc@gmail.com). We can return a signed Rx by either email, or mail, {if you provide us with an address (additional postage fees may apply)}. There is a $10 charge for a signed Glasses Rx.
As a rule we usually recommend that you reassure yourself that the prescription is accurate by repeating your measurements on a different day and getting the same answers. Although you will initially have to invest a little time in learning how to make your measurements accurately; once you have learned the technique, this method will allow you to quickly update your glasses when needed, usually requiring less than several minutes for measuring each eye.
This method was developed by an ophthalmologist, and is accurate within (.25 diopter), “99%” of the time, (when it is carefully done, and when it is repeatable), with an experience of over eight years and thousands of readings.
Thank you for your interest in this new technique for obtaining a glasses prescription, which I hope, over the years may save you lots of time and money. Our main goal of course, is to allow you to see, as well as possible; so you can maximally enjoy your visual experiences, that life brings us!
