Providers: If you are a licensed optometrist or ophthalmologist and would like to be a panel provider, please email us at, ” jcacjc@gmail.com “, to be added to our provider list.
We are hoping to provide a panel of ethical eye care providers, and investigators, licensed over a particular demographic region, with the number of providers depending on the proximity and the population of that region. This will allow our clients to buy their glasses locally, as well as online.
As a panel member, your name will appear on the glasses Rx, for orders within your demographic region. You will receive 1$ for every glasses Rx signed (computer generated). Your responsibilities will include providing a standard refraction for clients that are unhappy with their online glasses RX, free of charge, to support the new method, and for providing feedback, by emailing us a copy of your corrected Rx, with best corrected visual acuity, and comments or recommendations, so we can compare it to the client’s online glasses Rx, and hopefully improve our method, or selectivity, for successful outcomes using this new method. We anticipate from our studies that 1 in 100 clients will need to be re-refracted, and many of those clients were unhappy with their Rx, because of existing medical conditions, like cataracts, or ARMD, which were limiting their optical outcomes. This backup service you are offering can also help those patients get plugged into healthcare system, and get diagnosed and cared for. If the best corrected visual acuity is less than 20/40, then after informing the patient of your exam results, you can recommend a medical exam for them, (at that time, or to be scheduled later at your convenience), and charge them for that service if they agree to it. If 20/40 or better, then provide them with a new Rx, free of any additional charges, however appropriate follow up visits or referrals for any medical eye problems are strongly encouraged.
If your practice is within the United States, a token licensing fee of $100 is required to cover and offset administrative and credentialing cost, to keep the panel list updated and accurate.
If a client complains that they were charged by your office, and were only referred to you through this backup refraction, (not a prior patient), you will forfeit your licensing fee, be unlisted, and not be eligible to participate as a provider in the future. As an investigator, any feedback you can give us to improve the successful outcome of this new technique for refraction, or improve how to better select good candidates for this method would be greatly appreciated.
If you are willing to help us with a prospective study, asking for volunteers from your own patient base, first, to perform the online exam, followed by your own exam in your office, so the two results could be reported and correlated, along with your recommendation regarding best candidates for patient selection, based on your own observations. For primary investigators involved in the prospective study, the licensing fee will be waved, or refunded, and we will give you $5 for each future signed RX in your demographic area, and credit your help on any published report; once, and if, the prospective study is completed, and if it shows the new method to be accurate.
